Our history
In September 2018 Ambition School Leadership and the Institute for Teaching merged, relaunching as Ambition Institute six months later.
This was driven by the powerful connection between improving teaching and improving school leadership. Both organisations shared the vision of building an education system where every child can thrive, no matter what their background.
The Institute for Teaching was founded in 2017, focusing on programmes for both teachers and teacher educators.
Ambition School Leadership was the result of a previous merger in 2016, between The Future Leaders Trust (founded 2006) and Teaching Leaders (founded 2008).
All predecessor organisations (the Institute for Teaching, The Future Leaders Trust, and Teaching Leaders) were originally supported by Ark Ventures, part of the education charity Ark.
