Ambition Institute named as lead provider for national professional qualifications

March 31, 2021

Today the Department for Education announced that Ambition Institute is one of nine lead providers for its national professional qualifications (NPQ) for teachers and school leaders.

NPQs provide a standardised suite of professional development options for teachers and school leaders to improve their practice in the classroom and at all levels of leadership.

Following the announcement, Ambition CEO Hilary Spencer said:

“We are delighted to have been named as a lead provider of the new national professional qualifications for teachers and school leaders.

“Alongside the early career framework, the reformed NPQs will support teachers and school leaders in developing their expertise, so that they are able to lead sustainable improvement in their classrooms and schools, at every stage of their careers.

“The golden thread running throughout the ECF and NPQ programmes will give schools confidence that all their educators, from classroom teachers to leaders of multiple schools, are developing their practice from the same evidence-based framework.

"Evidence shows that high quality professional development is the most cost-effective way to have a significant impact on pupil achievement. Now is the right time to invest in teachers and school leaders, and to make their professional development a priority – both for Covid recovery, but also for long term growth and improvement.

“We’re excited to work with more teachers, schools and new teaching school hubs to continue supporting their development.”
