Ambition reveals new Teacher Training founding partners

July 20, 2023

We are pleased to welcome four new founding partners on our inaugural Teacher Training programme.

Our new partners are:

  • Blue Kite Academy Trust, a multi academy trust with 11 primary schools across Swindon and Wiltshire.
  • North West SCITT, a registered charity formerly known as Fylde Coast SCITT, providing school based Initial Teacher Training to schools in Blackpool and across the North West coast.
  • Pathfinder Schools, a multi academy trust with nine primary schools and one secondary school in Northamptonshire.
  • Shaw Education Trust, a multi academy trust with 29 schools across the Midlands and North West.

Each partner brings crucial local knowledge and strong relationships in their communities and regions, and experience of delivering or hosting teacher training.

Together, we aspire to bring even more ambitious and committed teachers into the schools that need them the most and provide the best possible start to a fulfilling career in education.

They will be joining these previously announced founding partners on our inaugural Teacher Training programme:

  • Academy Transformation Trust
  • Active Learning Trust
  • Cumbria Education Trust
  • Dixons Academies Trust
  • Eden Academy Trust
  • Forward as One
  • Learning in Harmony Trust
  • Lime Trust
  • London District East Teaching School Hub
  • Teach Kent and Sussex
  • The Sigma Trust

As founding partners, they will help us develop our new training offer, contributing their expertise and experience so that trainee teachers can have an impact in their classrooms from the outset.

Julie Yarwood, Chief Learning Officer for Shaw Education Trust said: “We are absolutely delighted to be working with Ambition Institute for Initial Teacher Education and look forward to extending our well-established footprint through this exciting new partnership. We see this as a tremendous opportunity to secure and train the very best entrants to our profession. In joining with Ambition, we will grow dedicated and fully committed teachers who will ensure the very best provision for all children and young people, impacting positively on their life chances. Our new colleagues will become fabulous teachers of today and remarkable leaders of tomorrow.”

Ashley Izzard-Snape, Director of School Improvement at Pathfinder Schools, said: “We are excited about this new collaboration with Ambition, which is strengthening our work on professional development, providing a path into teaching for local people, and creating a pipeline of highly skilled teachers for the area. Our aim is to inspire greatness. A key part of that is having the very best teachers in our classrooms, acting as role models for pupils and improving educational outcomes. With Teacher Training, we can make a positive difference to our students, our schools, and our community with high quality professional development, empowering new teachers right at the start of their careers.”

Hilary Spencer, Chief Executive Officer at Ambition Institute, said: “Every teacher should have access to high quality professional development from the very outset of their career. Our purpose is to help teachers and schools serving pupils from disadvantaged backgrounds to keep getting better. We are looking forward to working closely with these organisations, who are all doing exceptional work to develop and support teachers in their communities. It is a pleasure to be able to welcome them as founding partners on our inaugural Teacher Training programme.”
