Ambition welcomes teaching school hubs

Today the Department for Education announced its full network of 87 teaching school hubs, creating a national infrastructure for teacher and leadership development.

Our CEO, Hilary Spencer, welcomes the news:

“We are really pleased to see the announcement of 87 new teaching school hubs. Congratulations to all those who have been successful.

“Every child should be taught by an expert teacher who is continually improving their skills, working in a school led by expert leaders. Teaching school hubs will help move us closer to that goal.

“Emerging evidence suggests that Covid-19 has had a disproportionate effect on disadvantaged pupils. Excellent teaching is crucial for tackling disadvantage, so by increasing access to high quality professional development, teaching school hubs can help teachers and school leaders close this gap.

“We’re looking forward to supporting them in this important role.”
